Holocaust Blog

In October 1940, Alinka and her family, along with all the other Jewish residents of Warsaw, were forced to leave their homes and live in a run-down area of the city. On November 15, walls were built around the ghetto, cutting it off from the rest of the world. Alinka, the daughter of Lilka Cukierman, was five years old when the Germans occupied her city in September 1939. Warsaw was a large, cosmopolitan city, home to Europe’s largest Jewish community. Her grandfather was highly involved in the community. The family lived in an affluent area. Alinka loved to play with her dolls and stuffed animals. Part of a large, loving, highly educated family, Alinka had a comfortable early childhood. She is dead.

Natan, the son of Carola and Israel Abbe, grew up in Lodz, Poland. His father owned a haberdashery store, where he sold hats, gloves, and other accessories. He had two sisters and a younger brother. A large, fairly liberal city, Lodz was home to over 233,000 Jews.Natan was a fifteen year-old schoolboy. Anti-Jewish restrictions were immediately enacted. Jews were forbidden to congregate for religious services, they were subject to curfew, their radios were confiscated, and they were forced to wear the yellow star.

I have learned lots about this project we have been doing in our English and Info class. For example, I have learned that we live in a place where we take life for granted and we have it very easy compared to the people back in the day during the World War II and the Holocaust. Another thing I have learned about this play that it affected people back then and now because we learn about that today and at any given time in could happen to us students and that we should know about the past and apply it to the future and present so it doesn’t happen again. This is important in my life because I do not wanting this kind of situation happening to my family. So I want to make a change to the society and make sure they know that this was a harsh cruel action.

Working In Groups

Working in a group can have many pros and many cons. working in a group enables other thoughts and not just your own thought. Group work in my opinion is fun if I have a good partner otherwise I will be just fine on my own. Group work has helped me out in a couple of ways, one being able to bounce ideas of each other to get the results. A con about working in a group is when you get paired up with a good buddy and you fool around a lot and no work gets done. Overall group work is very efficient and fun in my perspective. In my English and Info class we had to re-wright the lyrics of Stacey’s mom has got it going on and make a video that goes along with the video.

The Blind Side

Blind Side Quote

Beth: you’re changing that boy’s life.

Leigh Anna Touhy: No. He’s changing mine.

Mrs. Touhy is out for lunch with her friends. They are talking about how Mrs. Touhy brought a guy from the street and pretty much adopting him and taking care of him. Mike had lived in a trashy house and he didn’t have much before Mrs. Touhy came along. This is very generous on her part because Mike had a very poor living condition. Mrs. Touhy opened up a whole new life for Mike. One of Mike’s new changes is being a part of a team. Another way Mike faces change is that he’s has been given a room and his own bed and before Mrs. Touhy came along he had not had a bed to sleep on nor did he have his own room. Mrs. Touhy is a great person for doing this.

A way I have been faced with this is when I took in a snake when the river was flooded and raised it for about a year and a half. It has impacted my life because I had to feed it and take good care of it even when it was aggressive. It had a positive impact on me because I had lots of fun with it and it had bit my brother and myself a couple of times and it tamed down after a few months. This can relate to Mrs. Touhy’s life because she had brought a person in to her life and so did I.

The second quote that I am picking is when Micheal Oher handed in his essay. Charge of the Light Brigade. Courage is a hard thing to figure. You can have courage based on a dumb idea or mistake, but you’re not supposed to question adults, or your coach or your teacher, because they make the rules. Maybe they know best, but maybe they don’t. It all depends on who you are, where you come from. Didn’t at least one of the six hundred guys think about giving up, and joining with the other side? I mean, valley of death that’s pretty salty stuff. That’s why courage it’s tricky. Should you always do what others tell you to do? Sometimes you might not even know why you’re doing something. I mean any fool can have courage. But honor, that’s the real reason for you either do something or you don’t. It’s who you are and maybe who you want to be. If you die trying for something important, then you have both honor and courage, and that’s pretty good. I think that’s what the writer was saying, that you should hope for courage and try for honor. And maybe even pray that the people telling you what to do have some, too.

This quote hes me thinking that he has got it figured out and that he knows what to be expected. In his classes he may not always pay attention and do what is told but from the essay that he has wrote it shows he knows what he is doing. This quote affects me in multiple ways, one being that i want to be the best person I can be even when I dont show it. I personally have faced many moments that i have show courage, I ran my buddies leg over on my dirt bike and it broke his femur and we where alone and we where a long ways away from help. I had enough Courage to put pressure on the leg and that i stayed calm. I had to go get help and they called the ambulance which arrived shortly after. This quote examples the way i showed courage.

I COULD bother

In our social class we have to choose one thing that we would like to change in our world “My Spark”. I choose to stop Imagrants coming into Canada. The reason why I want to change Immagrants coming into a Country that isnt exactly theres is because there has been lots of bombings coming from the group of immagrants that have been coming into Canada. We could make a differnce by making them stay in there Country  for an extra 3 years to make sure they are not a harm to our country. By doing this we would elimanate the amount of bombings and terroist attacks. Overall I think this would be a good change in our society.
